Brabant (Pijl) Arrow Preview

We have certainly been treated to some real classics on the road in recent weeks where Alexander Kristoff emerged as one of the best in the business.

On Sunday it was the turn of John Degenkolb who timed his move to perfection to become only the second German winner of the famous Paris-Robaix.

Excitement is building towards the Tour de France but before that SuperSport will follow another classic on Wednesday.

Background Info On The Race

The Brabant Arrow is a Flanders Classics road bicycle race held annually in Flemish Brabant and in Walloon Brabant, Belgium. Since 2005, the race has been organised as a 1.1 event on the UCI Europe Tour.

In 2011, it was upgraded to a 1.HC event. Edwig Van Hooydonck holds the record for most wins in the race with four between 1987 and 1995. In recent years, Zaventem was the city of start, in 2008 however, Leuven became the starting point.

In 2010 the fixed date of the Brabant Arrow shifted from the Sunday before the Ronde van Vlaanderen to the Wednesday before the Amstel Gold Race.

Until 2009 the finish was located in Alsemberg, in 2010 it shifted to Overijse.

The defending Champion is Philippe Gilbert from Belgium

Look forward to some exciting racing and make sure to view it all on SuperSport from Wednesday 15 April.
