Super Rugga Watch 2018 – Round 11

It’s Round 11 of Vodacom Super Rugby and we have really upped our game with our weekly Super Rugga Watch previews, missing 2 of 3 GSP by a single game.

First it was the Rebels, two weeks ago and this week it was the Brumbies, both beaten by the Jaguares on their Australasian tour but more on that later.

To those of you that have joined us in this journey so far this season, we just want to say THANK YOU! We are doing it because of your support and banter.

This week seems fairly easy but this year has been a rollercoaster ride and we don’t expect things to change now so here we go…

Friday 27 April 2018 – Hurricanes v Sunwolves, Westpac Stadium – 09h35*

Thanks to the extreme weather conditions the Sunwolves came off better than most expected in their match with the defending Champions, Crusaders a week ago and will face a different beast this week in the Hurricanes.

All weather jokes aside though, this game should be over before it even starts with the hosts being the clear favourites at this stage of the competition even though the overall table might tell a different tale.

PREDICTION: Hurricanes by 18

Friday 27 April 2018 – DHL Stormers v Rebels, DHL Newlands – 15h05*

Friday 27 April will be Freedom Day in South Africa and hopefully the DHL Stormers will finally be freed from the clutches of defeat which they have been in the last couple of weeks. Facing a battered Rebels team, at the hands of the Vodacom Bulls a week ago, this will be the do or die game for the men from Cape Town if they have any ambition left for this season.

The visitors won’t have much in the tank after their 28 – 10 drubbing at Loftus Versfeld and as far as we are concerned, shouldn’t offer much resistance against a Stormers outfit that is screaming for a win.

PREDICTION: DHL Stormers by 7

Saturday 28 April 2018 – Reds v Emirates Lions, Suncorp Stadium – 07h05*

The men from Johannesburg had a cracking start to their Australasian tour when they beat the Waratahs for the first time ever in Sydney in a complete performance last week and will want to show even more dominance over a Reds team that are pretty much nowhere.

Can the Emirates Lions improve on their 29 – 0 showing they had against the Tahs? It all will depend on how correct their medical team was about their jetlag predictions or not but we reckon this game will be like a Sunday run around for Swys de Bruin and his Lions.

PREDICTION: Emirates Lions by 21

Saturday 28 April 2018 – Blues v Jaguares, Eden Park – 09h35*

The Jaguares are finding themselves in New Zealand for the first time this season and will have their work cut out this weekend after two splendid weeks in Australia where they have won two on the trot already.

They are up against the bad stepsons of All Black rugby when they face the Blues who are still struggling to find the form that is not happening for them this season….yet.

Our friend over in New Zealand who is a die hard Blues supporter ran this poll on Twitter as he felt this result could go either way.

PREDICTION: Blues by 6

Saturday 28 April 2018 – Brumbies v Crusaders, GIO Stadium – 11h45*

A clash that a couple of years ago would have had anyone guessing, now a one-sided affair.

The Crusaders should in all likely hood be crushing the Brumbies if the current season is anything to go by.

Nuff said…

PREDICTION: Crusaders by 18

Sat 28 April 2018 – Vodacom Bulls v Highlanders, Loftus Versfeld –17h15*

What a game this should be. The inform Vodacom Bulls against the inform Highlanders…wow!

As an honest supporter of rugby I am struggling to find a true answer between my head and my heart for this clash, as my heart says Bulls, yet my head is telling me the Landers are going to win.

In 2017 the Bulls also hosted the men from Dunedin in a muddy affair at Loftus, which the visitors claimed in a last gasp effort by 7 points. Previous encounters by these two teams have been very close so who knows…

We decided to run a poll on Twitter for 24 hours to see what the people say and the difference between the two sides is what we decided to be the winning margin of the team that got the most votes…crazy yes…but hey, crazier things have happened.

PREDICTION: Highlanders by 4 (according to above Twitter poll)
