The Mother of All Fights is On!!!

After more than 5 years of begging and pleading the world will get the fight it has been waiting for when pound-for-pound greats Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will get in the ring on 2 May 2015 to unify the fighters’ welterweight world titles at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas!

The news broke when Mayweather posted this message with a snapshot of the signed agreement:

“What the world has been waiting for has arrived. Mayweather vs. Pacquiao on May 2, 2015, is a done deal. I promised the fans we would get this done, and we did. We will make history on May 2nd. Don’t miss it! This is the signed contract from both fighters.”

Signed, sealed and delivered!

Mayweather and Pacquiao both could potentially make over $100 million each for the fight. There’s no question Mayweather will walk away with $100 million+ for the fight. The only question is, will Pacquiao get that kind of green, given that he’s on the short end of a 60-40 purse split. If the fight hauls in over $400 million, like some boxing experts think it will, then Pacquiao will get over $100 million. They haven’t discussed what the fight will sell for on pay-per-view, but $100 to $110 is going to be the likely price tag for this great fight.

This is great news for the world of boxing and for their fans. The fight that people have been waiting for since 2009 is finally here. After Mayweather attempted to arrange fights with Pacquiao both in 2009 and 2012 with no luck as the Filipino fighter and his promoter Bob Arum could not see eye to eye with him, they finally were able to iron out a contract for the good of the sport.
