With the gloomy weather outside and winter creeping up on the doorstep, this Brazilian Hot Chocolate recipe will ease your nerves about the cold weather knocking on the door.

Serves:  6 to 8

INGREDIENTS:

  • 120 g sweet baking chocolate
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 cups hot milk
  • 2 cup warm cream
  • 6 cups hot strong coffee
  • 4 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 tspground cinnamon

METHOD:

  • Combine chocolate, sugar and salt in top half of a double boiler over simmering water.
  • Cook, stirring, until chocolate is melted, then stir in water.
  • Cook, stirring, 4 minutes.
  • Add milk, cream and coffee.
  • Beat with a whisk or hand beater until frothy.
  • Add vanilla and cinnamon, whisk well.
  • Serve
