South African football player Keagan Dolly paid a surprise visit to the Nike Academy in Soweto on Monday night. The Montpellier midfielder joined the training drills and shared a few inspiring words with the young players.
“Nothing in life comes easy, but if you work hard for what you want and believe that it’s possible, you can achieve your dreams. I wanted to play in Europe when I was your age, but it didn’t happen until now. You have to put the hours into your training and be consistent, and the hard work will pay off.”
Training with their hero was a dream come true for the boys. “I never thought I would get the chance to meet Keagan. We appreciate him being here with us during his free time,” said Rameez Dharsey, an aspiring professional footballer and first year student in construction management.
“Having a successful role model from their country that they can learn from is an important part of the training process for the Nike Academy players,” said Arthur Zwane, Nike Academy Head Coach. “It inspires them to work harder when they see the success that Keagan has achieved, while he has come from the same place as them.”
Season 1 of the Nike Academy takes place every Monday night at the Nike Football Training Centre in Soweto until July 24th. For more information visit nike.com/Joburg.
