We live in a day and age where technology provides teenagers with many ways of staying entertained than ever before. This spread of technology has a lot of benefits for the world in general, but sometimes it has a few down sides too. If we are not careful, it can lead us to a situation where our physical and mental health can be seriously affected.

Recent studies show that though while most of the teenagers who fall in the age bracket of 13-17 are physical able, their participation in sports is dismal. A lot of them prefer to play e-sports or video games to actually going out onto the field for a game of football, basketball, hockey, etc. Most of them are lured into activities where the most physical exertion is a movement of the hand at most. Many sports blogs and articles seek to glamourize the more intense physical sports but there does not seem to be many takers. This is not a good thing.

It should be mentioned here that this is not a truth solely restricted to teenagers. Many adults too do not actively engage in sports despite being very interested in them (the massive popularity of sports betting shows that). People seem to like betting on competitive sports but not necessarily actively participate in them. Many betting offers are available to make sports more attractive for viewers and people are generally quite serious in taking them up.

Today teenagers need to take a much more active role in sports and here’s why…

A healthier individual

Sports is all about moving your body. That has a lot of health benefits a sit-around lifestyle does not allow. It’s a great form of exercise and that keeps your body healthy. Even short bursts of exercise can transform your health. The benefits of sports in this regard far outweighs any risk of physical injury and teens should be egged on to take up a sport of their choice.

Teamwork

Humans are social creatures and sports give us the opportunity to bond with like-minded individuals. Team sports need us to interact with teammates to develop a comprehensive strategy to enable a certain outcome. This practice will help teens in other social situations too where they need to be a part of the world they live in.

Manage time

Sports as an activity need a certain degree of commitment of time and energy. To be able to continue to be a part of the sport one chooses one needs to manage their schedules to take out time for it. This can help them in life’s other aspects, for example when they are travelling to see new places. And that’s just one of the things, good time management is something that will help teens in other spheres of life too.

In conclusion, one can say that the more active role teenagers take in sports the better they will be. It is a great way to grow oneself in a holistic way and something that must be encouraged as actively as we are able.

I’m glad you talked about how teenagers and adults don’t spend time playing sports as they should. In my opinion, we need to encourage our kids to do physical activity from a young age. I believe our health could greatly improve if we start to play sports, so I’ll be sure to share this article with my friends and family. Thanks for the information on sports and their importance.
