After their 97-point season during the 2018-19 Premier League campaign, Liverpool Football Club have not let their shortcomings define them. Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have been labeled as mentality monsters, with the current top-flight season supporting that narrative. At the time of writing, the runaway league leaders have recorded 73 points out of a possible 75, drawing only one game against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
As a result, we’re going to look at how Liverpool’s never-say-die attitude is driving them to their first league title in 30 years.
The Reds Never Know When They’re Beat
Since the arrival of Klopp, the Reds have demonstrated on numerous occasions that, regardless of how long is left and how tough the task may appear, they are never beaten. During the German’s first season on Merseyside, Liverpool completed what has now become an iconic comeback against Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League, scoring three second-half goals to set-up a semi-final clash against Villarreal.
Despite this being in Klopp’s early days at Liverpool, that mentality has never faded. On the way to their sixth European Cup last season, the Merseyside club overturned a three-goal, first-leg deficit against Barcelona to book their spot in the Champions League final against Tottenham Hotspur, where they would win 2-0.
Out of the 25 top-flight games that they’ve played thus far, Liverpool have won 11 of them by a one-goal margin, which highlights their resilience and unrivaled desire to be victorious come the final whistle.
A Burning Desire to Experience Glory
While the Merseyside team never know when they’re beaten, they’ve also developed a winning mentality that has been lacking from the club in recent years. In numerous seasons, the Reds have come close to ending their wait for a league title on one-off occasions under both Brendan Rodgers and Rafa Benitez, but, having fallen short during those respective campaigns, couldn’t repeat their form and challenge consistently. Under Klopp, however, things have changed.
Some within the football world believed that Liverpool would struggle to replicate their 2018-19 form and once again compete with Manchester City at the very top of the table. Yet, in the last 102 points that have been available, Klopp’s side have secured 100 of those, in addition to achieving 20 consecutive Premier League wins at Anfield. In hindsight, the form that the 18-time league winners have shown this campaign and their desire to win shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Having fallen short in the 2017-18 Champions League final against Real Madrid, the Reds responded the following year by claiming one of Europe’s most prestigious trophies at the second time of asking. Furthermore, having developed a title-driven mentality, Liverpool are 9/2 with football betting to successfully defend the Champions League as of February 4th in a season that could see them complete a historic double.
A Defining Few Months Await Liverpool
At present, there is still much to achieve for Klopp’s team despite boasting a 22-point lead at the top of the Premier League. With the record for the total number of points within their grasp, along with the prospect of going a whole season unbeaten, the Reds can potentially rewrite the record books in the closing months of the 2018-19 season.

Only 3 losses so far this season in all competitions. If Liverpool can maintain any sort of form next season it might be another cake walk. I just wonder how Cit will do next season without Champions League, could pose Pool some issues. My biggest interest is if they can match Arsenal’s unbeaten season, they’d be worthy record holders.
