What a week it has been for Barcelona who claimed the UEFA Super Cup after a 5-4 victory over Sevilla that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
At 4-1 Barcelona were cruising to victory when Sevilla produced a stunning fightback that certainly caused some major flutters in the Barca camp.
But the scoreboard reflected another victory for the mighty Catalans and that’s all that matters now.
It’s a quick turnaround for Barcelona who now faces Athletic Bilbao for the Spanish Super Cup.
This edition marks their 26th appearance, more than any other club. Barça have won 15 out of the 25 cups on offer that further illustrates their dominance over time.
Athletic Bilbao will be making their first appearance at the event since 2009 when they also lost to Barca over two legs (5-1).
Bilbao won the trophy in 1984 as it was awarded to them for the winning La Liga and the Copa del Rey.
Logic says that Barcelona should cruise again but the beauty of football will always remind you that the upset is possible.
